Kayleigh has found her first
"GREAT" find!! its a 10k gold
ring with a diamond chip in it!!
It was found in wood chips at
her school playground!! with a
Garrett Treasure Ace 150,
her Uncle Steve gave her for
Christmas last year!
1879 Diamond Necklace!!
Howdy guys this find I will never ever forget...my friend Jim called me and told me he got permission to detect a
large estate near the river do I wanna go.. I said heck ya!! lol lol we detected behind the house in the woods and
Jim started off the finds with a gorgeous skeleton key... we wound up with 8 Indian head pennies 4 shield nickels
and and 1876 seated dime.
It had been raining on and off so we took a break and decided to look at the area by the river there was a spot
where people used to get off boats to go to the house and the high river water cut into the side and almost took
out the old stairs that led from the water to the yard.
Well we get there and a guy is fishing we start talking to him we are standing right on the edge that the water had
recently cut thru... then suddenly outta nowhere comes this female wild turkey it was big and walked right between
Jim and I it was pecking at the ground and Im looking at it and it goes about 2 ft. away from me and pecks at the
edge of the dirt and water and i look and see it pecking at something I bend down and pick it up its a necklace.
Jim starts laughing like crazy saying JD you have the craziest luck I've ever seen... I just put it in my pocket and it
started raining so we got back to his truck and he says lets see that necklace I said "aw its probably just costume
junk. well I pull it out and right away i realize although thin the chain is strong and heavy and as i took off the dirt I
saw diamonds and more diamonds Jims just shaking his head. He just kept saying "I cant belive a damned turkey
gave you that!!" over and over again.
I realized it had hallmarks I took it to the local jewelry store in the mall they did the diamond test on it and they are
real... the guy at the jewelry store told me its at least turn of the century because its not just a normal chain it was
made from a pocket watch chain and that was common then. so he got out his hallmark book and according to the
hallmarks its .925 sterling and was made in London in 1879 so i'm just exstatic about the piece I havnt cleaned it
good and it still has some dirt on it he wanted to clean it for me but im afraid too!! lol lol
The pic with the yellow dot is the exact spot I found the necklace!! hope you all enjoy this hh......jd
