How did you take up Treasure Hunting?
I had hurt my back very bad, and my doctor suggested to my wife
that I should take up a hobby to get more active, we were driving
and my wife said "how about a metal detector"? We went to the
mall and radio shack had a clearance sale so we bought a
$300.00 Bounty Hunter  detector for $150.00 the next day I found a
1945 Walking Liberty Half dollar and I have been treasure hunting
full time ever since.
Whats your best find?
First I'd like to say thank you for doing this, second I am by no
means a great treasure hunter I love this hobby I get to do what I
dreamed of doing and have fun with my chilren.
I really dont have a BEST find but I can tell you my favorite find so
far is Civil War Marine buttons in beautiful shape 2 of them are
still attached to part of a Union soldiers uniform I love that find
and hold it very sacred.
What type of Treasure Hunting do you like to do?
I love to hunt old places, I have a saying I'd rather find and old
buckle and a broken button all day long than find $50.00 in
clad any  time, I dont do new parks or woodchips I leave that
hunting to someone else I love fields, woods, old towns, cellar
holes, relics thats my passion.

Interview with J.D.
What type of Detectors do you use?
I use Whites DFX, XLT, Troy Shadow X-5, and the
new Teknetics T-2...
Each machine has its own personality I use the DFX
the most I believe the more you use the same
machine the better you become with it. All high end
detectors are great machines what ever brand you
use, just stick with it and learn it. It's like learning a
musical instrument the more you practice the better
you get.
Fossils and Indian Artifacts
Do you only Metal Detect?
No, I do as many different kinds of
treasure hunting I can find, This year
we found a large area of Pleistocene
Fossils and American Indian Artifacts
on a cousins property.

Do you find clad coins too?
I find things that I never take pictures of I have buckets of iron
relics, clad coins, broken whats its, and all the normal junk
most detectorists find, I have to say that I find 1 good piece to
every 100 pieces of junk I find... but thats the way this hobby
goes gotta dig the trash to find the treasure!!
